What’s in My Bag: The YouTube Camera Gear of Professionals

In Blog by Nick Le0 Comments

YouTube is home to some amazing creators that create breathtaking videos day-in and day-out. The level of quality achieved on this platform continues to grow every day and it makes me wonder all the time – what camera gear are some of these top YouTubers bringing along?

If you’re like me and you’re a videographer or photographer – we love to obsess over camera gear and camera equipment. Yeah, having the best gear doesn’t make you the best content creator, but it can make a hell of a difference. Whenever I see filmmakers producing high-quality content, I’m always curious as to what they are using to achieve the shot or the image. The final product is great, but I want to see the process.

I’ve been following several great YouTube filmmakers over the years and I curated a list of videos where they showcase the photography and videography gear they carry for either their YouTube videos or their Instagram photos. Note that I’ve left out some of the standard items that every content creator and filmmaker would carry such as standard cables, chargers, and batteries. Here are some “what’s in my camera bag” gear videos from my favorite YouTube filmmaking channels:

Final Thoughts

So what should you be carrying in YOUR camera bag?

Well, it depends.

It depends on what your style of filmmaking and photography is. It depends on your budget. It depends on many different things, so what one YouTuber might be carrying, might not be the right camera gear and equipment for you. So as much as it depends on your style of filmmaking, don’t let your filmmaking depend on the gear you have.

You can create great videos with just a smartphone. Focus on the storytelling and creating amazing content that both you and others will love and less about the camera gear side of it. Camera gear will improve as you begin to improve.

Have any suggestions on what camera gear you carry for your YouTube channel? Let me know down in the comments below, I’d love to hear any recommendations.
